When to visit >

The best time to visit Zimbabwe largely depends on your preferences for weather, wildlife viewing, and outdoor activities. Zimbabwe enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year, with distinct dry and wet seasons. Here are the two main seasons to consider:

Dry Season (May to October): The dry season is the most popular time to visit Zimbabwe, especially for wildlife enthusiasts. From May to October, there is little to no rainfall, and the weather is generally dry, sunny, and cool during the evenings. Wildlife congregates around water sources, making it easier to spot animals during game drives and boat safaris in national parks like Hwange and Mana Pools. This period is also the best time for visiting Victoria Falls, as the water flow is reduced, and you can witness the magnificent falls up close and even take part in activities like Devil's Pool when the water levels are low. The dry season is the peak tourist season, so accommodations may be in higher demand, and it's advisable to book in advance.

Wet Season (November to April): The wet season, also known as the "green season," is characterized by more rainfall, especially from November to March. While it can be hot and humid, the rains transform the landscape into lush greenery, creating beautiful scenery and opportunities for birdwatching. Many migratory birds arrive during this time, adding to the avian diversity. The wet season is also the time for baby animals, as many species give birth during this period. Wildlife viewing can be more challenging during the wet season due to the dense vegetation, and some roads in national parks may become impassable. The wet season is the low tourist season, so you may find more affordable accommodations and fewer crowds.

If you prefer more comfortable weather, optimal wildlife viewing, and visiting Victoria Falls at its fullest flow, consider visiting during the dry season from May to October. However, if you enjoy lush landscapes, birdwatching, and the opportunity to see baby animals, the wet season from November to April can be a delightful time to explore Zimbabwe.

Regardless of the season, Zimbabwe's stunning landscapes, abundant wildlife, and warm hospitality promise an unforgettable African safari experience.
